Somatics Exercises

Many people are turning to Somatic exercises to counteract the repetitive motions or physical traumas that have slowly etched their way into their muscular and skeletal systems. Hanna Somatics is an approach to renewed control of the muscles through use of the voluntary motor system - which basically means you can re-train your brain and your body to bring back your postural alignment and free yourself from pain.

Hanna Somatic Education

Hanna Somatic Education (HSE or Hanna Somatics) is a unique brain to muscle re-education. Through specific movements, muscles are reprogrammed to relieve tension, improve range of motion, and regain strength and control.

Hanna Somatics is an exceptionally effective modality to eliminate ongoing pain in all parts of the body including the back, neck, shoulder, hips, and legs. Many clients experiencing pain from car accidents, sports injuries, or overuse have reported pain relief after their first exercise session. Some clients report that Hanna Somatics has provided pain relief and increased range of motion where traditional physical therapy has failed.

Anyone can learn and benefit from Somatics exercises

YogaJP partnered with Hanna Somatics Instructor, James Knight, to create a Complete Series of Hanna Somatics exercises that anyone can do at home. Most of the exercises are done lying down, and offer slow, repetitive movements with excellent instruction. Somatics and Gentle Yoga are a great combination for freeing the body of pain and increasing physical mobility.
